I LOVE #3

I'm suffering from my standard Monday night lack of inspiration. So much to plan but so little creativity in my brain today that I can't even begin to think what to do! While my brain ticks over plans and ideas I have been looking at artwork and various bits and pieces to get me thinking.

My current creative thought process goes like this:

LISTENING TO #15

I'm suffering from the worst headcold this week but at least that gives me an excuse to coat myself in vaporub and lie around in a duvet whenever I have a spare moment. It's been such a full on week so far that I've not done much other than work and listen to music. I've fallen deeper in love than ever with Bombay Bicycle Club and The Kooks and seem to be listening to some of their latest tracks on a constant loop while I get marking and planning done.

I'm really enjoying getting lessons planned and doing all the background work at the moment. It feels good to use my brain properly after the six weeks of slobbing about and engaging with nothing more mentally stimulating than a drinks menu! One of my favourite parts of my job is the creative side of it. Having to think of different ways to do something or activities that will keep the kids interested is what I really enjoy. I spent most of last night making 'interactive posters' which are basically pages on the internet which you can add youtube clips, audio files, flashing symbols, quotes and images to. It appealed to my not so inner geek.

If I can get through this week with my voice intact then I'm looking forward to a weekend involving a cinema trip, drinks and night out, seeing birthday girl Emma for a much needed roast dinner and taking delivery of various new pieces of technology. I'm also going to be working on my self imposed mission to watch more films and read more books. So far this week I've seen 'Love and Other Drugs', 'He's Just Not That Into You', 'The Social Network', 'Othello' (Kenneth Branagh version for those English/Shakespeare lovers) and I've got 'The Town' to watch next. Books at the moment just consist of school texts and things I've been using to read around the subjects I'm teaching. I'm hoping to do some book swaps with people soon!

I have plenty of things to be getting on with so the songs I am surviving on are below. I always post tons because then I can find songs again easily when I want a listen! Storage blog comes to the rescue.

I wonder when I will get bored of Ed Sheeran? That furry little ginger man does have a lovely voice.

and this one just for a bit of extra cheese... if you think he is whiny anyway then I suggest you don't listen to this one!

Whatever this is, I want it.

FASHION FIX #15

I've been so busy this weekend seeing people and working that I haven't had much time to update. I use the blog as a place to store all of the things I like so that when shopping time comes around I can have a look back and see what I want. Saves me putting hundreds of bookmarks on the computer! Thought I'd share a few fashion favourites. Not long until payday now...

Forever 21. I've got a bit of a thing about gold and leopard print at the moment. I think when it gets near Christmas (yes, I said it) I become more and more attracted to shiny things. I love Forever 21 but the nearest one is in Birmingham and internet shopping is hassle when you have a dodgy postman, so I only go to the actual shop a few times a year and end up buying everything in sight.

Shoes I need in my life. Ankle boots are better when it gets cold and they also have a bit more grip. As I'm the clumsiest person in the world, I always need grip. I don't actually see myself buying the barbie pink ones but I thought they would look fun worn with an all black outfit (which I often wear!)
Top row: River Island
Second row: Aldo
Bottom row: Missguided.com

Topshop accessories. I only really buy stuff from Topshop when it's in the sale because I think it can sometimes be overpriced and you can usually find a similar, cheaper version somewhere else but the accessories always tempt me in! More gold and over the top decoration for Autumn.

Things I'm enjoying:

  • London Fashion Week tumblr - a good way to see what I missed
  • Ebay - It's super addictive and my competitive streak means I need to keep winning bids!
  • Gyming it with the girlies after a hard week at work
  • Gluten and wheat free food... it means I don't need an immediate sleep after eating.
  • Love film membership = getting to see films I've been meaning to watch for ages.
  • Rain outside when you're all toasty in bed
  • The Big Bang Theory
and this...

FASHION FIX #14

Fashion week has hit.

Poppy Delavigne - absolute beauty who manages to look classy despite having her endless legs on show. Love the multicoloured shift dress and tribal shoes.

 FROW

I never thought I would be a fan of anything worn by Kim Kardashian but she has proven me wrong! Love the old hollywood glamour style of this.

Long hemline and print = beautiful!
Zac Posen

Emma Roberts (left) - Absolutely adore this classic take on leopard print. Want. it. now.

Marchesa is one of my favourite fashion houses. It was created by a British duo who combined their talents to create some of the most beautiful, fanciful dresses I have ever seen. This particular collection has such an ethereal quality that I'm sure those models just wanted to swish around in the dresses all day long! Dresses from Marchesa are typically full of draping and embroidery and you are pretty much guaranteed to have seen a celebrity wearing one to a premiere at one point or another, even if you don't know the name of the brand. Not the most practical of dresses but who needs practical when you can look like a fairy princess!

Man Down

I have to admit I was getting very bored of Little Britain and Come Fly With Me but Walliams has definitely got my respect with his latest mission. Swimming 140 miles (seven times the distance of the channel!) along The Thames is not only highly commendable but also more than a bit mental. He is due to finish the swim today around 6.30pm and people have been told to gather on the banks and cheer at his arrival. It would be impressive enough to do his swim in clean water but The Thames is filthy! He's swimming to raise money for Sport Relief which is basically spent by Comic Relief on people who live tough lives in the UK and in some of the world's poorest countries. I've never really looked into exactly where the money goes before but I thought now was as good a time as any. The money raised helps young and old people, communities, people suffering from physical abuse and mental health problems among others. That's only in the UK. Definitely something worth donating a few spare pounds towards.

In support of David Walliams, people have been following a new craze called 'Trunking'. Sounds odd. It is odd. It's basically like planking (lieing flat like a plank on an object or somewhere strange) but in this version you have to pose like a swimmer. This might explain it a little more...

JLS

Lara Stone - The beautiful wife of Mr Walliams
Don't think I'll be doing that any time soon but I do want to raise money for Sports Relief so I did a bit more rooting around on their website...

The Sport Relief Mile is another great way to raise money for a very worthy cause. It takes place on Sunday 25th March all over the country and is half price to enter until 1st October. I don't want to sound too preachy so here's the Sport Relief website. If you're like me and haven't looked in depth at the things they do, then now is the time. If David Walliams can swim 140 miles in what is effectively sewage water, then I'm sure most of us can run a mile (even if it's just to get to the pint waiting at the end!)

All that writing about exercise has worn me out. I better talk about something closer to my everyday life. TV. The summer holidays meant I watched far too much tv for my own good and so have a few favourite adverts to share. I seem to be drawn to silly, fluffy things dancing around or making stupid noises...

FASHION FIX #13

After a hectic week at work I am very happy to say hello to the weekend. I even managed a gym trip today. I am feeling positively saintly. I've been driving for a week now and nothing disasterous has happened just yet but I always seem to park in a place which requires a three point turn when I have to get out of the street! I'm yet to fit a cd player in the car but I think it's going to have to happen sooner or later because although I like the music on Radio One, I absolutely, passionately dislike Chris Moyles and what he believes is 'entertainment'. Other radio stations won't tune properly so I've been stuck with him playing recordings of his snoring on the radio. Total idiot. Anyway, once I have a cd player/ipod hookup I will be downloading some new music so if anyone can recommend any old/new songs I should be listening to then throw your suggestions my way.

No proper nights out for me for a while until I've got things for the car and sorted out the quite appalling overspend from the summer. Summer is for fun so I don't feel too guilty about it but it does mean my budget is considerably smaller for a while. A small budget can only equal ridiculous day dreaming about fashion and other such superficial things so I'm sure my blog will be much more regular as I try to share the latest things I've been obsessing over.

Berry. My obsession with berries has now extended from food (Ribena, blueberries and blackberries) to clothing and makeup. Dark lipstick has been seen on all the catwalks and although it's quite hard to pull off, I would like to give it a go. It's only been in the last year or so when I've finally braved bright red, orange and pink and I think I'm ready for a new shade. It might make me look a bit gothic what with the dark hair and pale skin but an experiment can't hurt.

1. Asos Vintage Frame Lady Bag £75, 2. Topshop rings stack £25, 3. Aldo Wedges £65, 4. Nars Satin Lipstick £17.50, 5. Aldo Platforms £80, 6. Vera Moda £30, 7. Topshop £28.

In my friday relaxation mode earlier I ended up watching music videos and saw Pixie Lott's 'All About Tonight' video. It gave me serious leg envy and added to my list of girl crushes/people I would like to be. Previous people include Beyonce, Jessica Szohr and Megan Fox. If you don't know who Pixie Lott is then I will introduce you to the small blonde who seems to wear hot pants on a regular basis and also has a clothing line with Lipsy

Here's the awfully cheesy song. Dance in your pants. x
