Man Down

I have to admit I was getting very bored of Little Britain and Come Fly With Me but Walliams has definitely got my respect with his latest mission. Swimming 140 miles (seven times the distance of the channel!) along The Thames is not only highly commendable but also more than a bit mental. He is due to finish the swim today around 6.30pm and people have been told to gather on the banks and cheer at his arrival. It would be impressive enough to do his swim in clean water but The Thames is filthy! He's swimming to raise money for Sport Relief which is basically spent by Comic Relief on people who live tough lives in the UK and in some of the world's poorest countries. I've never really looked into exactly where the money goes before but I thought now was as good a time as any. The money raised helps young and old people, communities, people suffering from physical abuse and mental health problems among others. That's only in the UK. Definitely something worth donating a few spare pounds towards.

In support of David Walliams, people have been following a new craze called 'Trunking'. Sounds odd. It is odd. It's basically like planking (lieing flat like a plank on an object or somewhere strange) but in this version you have to pose like a swimmer. This might explain it a little more...

Don't think I'll be doing that any time soon but I do want to raise money for Sports Relief so I did a bit more rooting around on their website...

The Sport Relief Mile is another great way to raise money for a very worthy cause. It takes place on Sunday 25th March all over the country and is half price to enter until 1st October. I don't want to sound too preachy so here's the Sport Relief website. If you're like me and haven't looked in depth at the things they do, then now is the time. If David Walliams can swim 140 miles in what is effectively sewage water, then I'm sure most of us can run a mile (even if it's just to get to the pint waiting at the end!)

All that writing about exercise has worn me out. I better talk about something closer to my everyday life. TV. The summer holidays meant I watched far too much tv for my own good and so have a few favourite adverts to share. I seem to be drawn to silly, fluffy things dancing around or making stupid noises...
