I love #8

I love arty things. I don't look at art enough nowadays.
Ahh sparklers.

Florals, bag, tan. Hurry up summer time.

I want to be here. Right now.

I can't decide which is cuter. This or...

This! Cutest lunchbox everrrr.

If I could put me into a bag...

I want to own this dog.

Blossom and books = perfection

Bookworm #6: The Road

You can probably tell from the front cover of this book that it wasn't a jolly read. The novel is set in a postapocalyptic world where danger is a constant threat. Father and son are travelling along 'the road' towards the coast and facing the ever growing realisation that there is no hope left. All they have is each other. The pair are nameless and the narrative is simplistic; I found this hard to get into at first but it soon had me hooked and wanting to know what would happen to both characters in the face of total devastation. Although the depiction of this world is terrifying, it serves to highlight the tenderness between the father and son and the true nature of love.

The novel is very dark and features some incredibly emotive moments, particularly when the young boy is involved. I find it very hard not to deconstruct things and ask a million questions when reading, so this book tested me to hold back my English teacher tendencies and try to immerse myself fully in the plot. It has been made into a film which I'm sure is equally as grim and haunting. I haven't seen it and I don't think I will. I don't want to ruin the book. Despite the depressing subject matter, this novel was great to read and I felt really concerned for the characters. It leaves many questions unanswered and doesn't wrap anything up neatly.

It's a fantastic book and I would recommend it to everyone. It makes you appreciate what you have and begin to consider things on a larger scale.

N.B. I'm not writing full book reviews, just my little opinion, but if you do want to know more about the novel then check out The Guardian for good reviews. One more thing, although I'm an English teacher I don't put tons of time into writing my blog and considering grammar/punctuation/sophistication so for anyone judging me then go for it. I don't care. :)

Rosy cheeks and rosewood cuffs

When I was given the chance to blog about a piece from Accessories Direct, I had quite a hard decision to make. I spent such a long time on the website trying to decide what to get but eventually plumped for this gorgeous 18CT Gold Rosewood cuff. They have so many stunning pieces of jewellery that deciding on one thing was really difficult! The cuff arrived very speedily and was very securely packaged to make sure no harm came to my new accessory. I chose the cuff because it would go with so many things in my wardrobe and the colour of the stone in the middle is one of my favourite colours. They also do it in green and black too. If I could have had all three colours then I think I would have!

Although the wood is very expensive and heavy-looking, it is actually very light to wear and the cuff is fitted enough so that it wouldn't fall off or spin round. It fits perfectly round my wrist and is really comfortable.

Cuff: Accessories Direct, Ring: H&M, Bag: Mulberry

The stone in the centre of the cuff isn't a solid red, it has a pretty sheen to it and reflects the light brilliantly. For a cuff that is priced at £73, this looks so much more expensive.

The cuff also goes well with one of my newish bags (I buy lots of them) from Stylistpick. I like picking up on little details in an outfit and then running with it. There's the gold of the bag, cuff and the rings here. Although the reds don't match exactly, I reckon I can get away with it! The rings are from H&M and I took a close up so that you can appreciate them as much as I do. Mini fox and rabbit tend to come with me everywhere nowadays.

How I wore it: Mixed with red, navy and gold accents for evening. Today I'll be wearing it with my mulberry, a cream dress and a thick brown belt.

Accessories Direct don't just do jewellery. The clue is in the name! They have a range of lustworthy handbags and purses too. I've got my beady eye on a few of them.

Boys, Valentine's day is coming up. You're welcome.

Minty fresh

Happy half term to me! Time for a much needed break and a chance to get marking done, plan some ace lessons and catch up with friends. I neglect people during term time because I'm so busy/stressed/preoccupied with sleeping that I don't make plans or remember to text anyone back. It's terrible but sadly that's the way it is at the moment. I'm so glad that the mornings are beginning to get lighter. Hopefully it means that soon I won't have to sleep in a hoodie or eat carbs at every possible opportunity. It's fair to say that I feel sluggish, pale and generally not at my best. Can't wait for summer to arrive!

All of the magazines (of which I have many) are telling us that a big spring/summer trend will be pastels and candy colours. Mint is high up the list and definitely feels like a good colour to begin adding to your wardrobe now. I'm already on the lookout! Here are some of my high street minty picks...

My personal favourites are 2 and 5. I love drop back tops because they hide a multitude of sins, look classy and can be dressed up or down. The cross pleat dress is just very girlie and pretty!

I've blogged like crazy over the last few weeks but with my week off I'll be seeing friends and family so daily blogging will have to take a backseat for a while. I've also got some gorgeous jewellery on the way and can't wait to share that with you and see what people think! My mulberry maybe even sneak into a few posts because I'm very much enjoying showing her off. If there's anything you'd like to see more/less of in my posts then please let me know. I like hearing what people think!
