Minty fresh

Happy half term to me! Time for a much needed break and a chance to get marking done, plan some ace lessons and catch up with friends. I neglect people during term time because I'm so busy/stressed/preoccupied with sleeping that I don't make plans or remember to text anyone back. It's terrible but sadly that's the way it is at the moment. I'm so glad that the mornings are beginning to get lighter. Hopefully it means that soon I won't have to sleep in a hoodie or eat carbs at every possible opportunity. It's fair to say that I feel sluggish, pale and generally not at my best. Can't wait for summer to arrive!

All of the magazines (of which I have many) are telling us that a big spring/summer trend will be pastels and candy colours. Mint is high up the list and definitely feels like a good colour to begin adding to your wardrobe now. I'm already on the lookout! Here are some of my high street minty picks...

My personal favourites are 2 and 5. I love drop back tops because they hide a multitude of sins, look classy and can be dressed up or down. The cross pleat dress is just very girlie and pretty!

I've blogged like crazy over the last few weeks but with my week off I'll be seeing friends and family so daily blogging will have to take a backseat for a while. I've also got some gorgeous jewellery on the way and can't wait to share that with you and see what people think! My mulberry maybe even sneak into a few posts because I'm very much enjoying showing her off. If there's anything you'd like to see more/less of in my posts then please let me know. I like hearing what people think!

Grew up at midnight

Following on from my new style crush, I had a look around for some cobalt blue dresses. Dorothy Perkins had two gorgeous blue dresses which caught my eye immediately. For some reason Dorothy Perkins is associated with older ladies and frumpy clothes. I don't know why! It has some really good pieces and I rarely fail to find something in there that I don't like. Maybe they could do with rebranding so people recognise it as a more fashionable brand. It just doesn't seem to be as obvious as other high street stores like Topshop, New Look, River Island et al. I always pop into DP when I'm in town and I got the warmest winter coat from there this year!

Current favourites are below:

I prefer the colour of the top blue dress but I prefer the style of the bottom one. I think I'd be more likely to wear the bottom one because I do love a one shouldered dress! The burgundy dress would be perfect for layering. Some thick tights, a big cardigan and a giant wooly scarf would go well with it. The clutch is there simply because it could go with so many things.

If only money grew on trees...

Style crush #11: Millie Mackintosh

Made in Chelsea is a 'reality' programme mainly featuring rich people and their minor dramas. I use the word reality in the loosest sense because it has obviously been completely set up and yes, it may not be scripted, but it's very clear that certain situations are very heavily manipulated. That said, I do enjoy watching it to see how these people live. It mainly features them saying "I'm bored... shall we go on holiday darling?" and off they go to Marrakesh or Iceland.

My post today is about Millie Mackintosh. She's a makeup artist by trade so always look immaculately made up and glowing. I didn't really pay much attention to her style until recently when she wore a black lace top coupled with an incredible tan and then I began to look at her others outfits more closely. Yes, she has lots of money and undoubtedly there are brands sending her things to wear but I think that it would be easy to copy her style if you looked around carefully. She wears very simple outfits and there must be some good high street versions out there! She does also rewear items - a very rare trait in the rich and famous.

Serious clutch and shoe envy!

Gorgeous cream shoes again with cobalt blue dress.
Here's the sparkly clutch again. Love those shoes.
She's wearing the shoes again! Still got the enviable pins out too.
Good colour match with the lipstick and dress. Effortless.

I think I'll be on the lookout for a cobalt blue dress, beige heels and also some black open toe platforms. The perfect legs might take a bit more work!

Listening to #18

The recent snow has put me in a chill mood. Spending weekends wrapped in my duvet and doing nothing but catching up on tv shows and reading is my idea of bliss. These are just a few of the songs on my current favourite playlist.
