These words are all we have

I returned from London today after a brilliant but exhausting Jubilee weekend. I met so many new people and one of the highlights was definitely a group of us dancing to Stevie Wonder in Hyde Park whilst wearing masks of the royals. We wore the masks all the way to Hyde Park and scared a poor man on the tube because he had no idea what was going on!

I'm back now and already thinking about my birthday next month. I like to treat myself to a birthday present each year just as a little celebration for myself so here are a few I've been thinking about.

The pink wonder on the left is a Mini Magimix from John Lewis. Baking cakes and cooking is one of my favourite things but it would be so much easier if I had a food processor to speed it along a little bit. The lovely Rosie bought me a Jamie Oliver 30 Minute Meals cookbook when I moved into my flat but haven't been able to try out many recipes because most of them require a food processor. I think Jamie uses a magimix himself but my budget can't stretch to a proper one. I'm sure a mini one would be fine!

The blue watch is from ASOS and it's one of the patent ones I have been lusting after for months. I managed to lose my watch in London so now I have the perfect excuse to buy a new one!

The rings on the left are ASOS and on the right are Topshop. You can never have too many quirky gold rings so I think I need to add to my collection soon.

The mint shoes are from Topshop and are the perfect way to wear mint without having to go out and buy loads of expensive clothes. I spotted the shoes on Jaime's instagram and fell in love with them. Only problem is, I'm not sure when or where I'd be able to wear them. Doh!

And finally, I thought I'd share some photos from my Jubilee weekend. The rain stopped us from going to watch the flotilla so we decided to have a typical British picnic. In bed. Dressed as the royals. Totally normal.

Photoshop handsome

Bank holiday weekends are fun! After a lazy couple of days, I went out last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great time. The birthday girl was wearing not only some gorgeous Jeffrey Campbell Litas (which every girl in the blogger world wants) but she was also sporting some beautiful jewellery from Galibardy. I decided to have a quick look online and here are a few of my favourite finds. I could have chosen hundreds of things from Topshop but I narrowed it down to a few.

The top half of the picture below contains items from Topshop and the bottom half (from the purses down) has Galibardy pieces. Ahhh I want it all! I realised yesterday that it's my birthday in two months (eek) so I've got a good reason to look around at pretty things.

I've spent today making blueberry cupcakes, reading my latest book and catching up on Desperate Housewives. I definitely think a three day weekend is the way forward.

End of time

I'm off to V festival in August with the lovely Lauren and I'm already looking forward to it. I can't afford a holiday this year so the festival is my summer treat. It turns out that being an adult is pretty expensive and I can't just go and do whatever I want. Who knew? I'm keeping an eye out for festival attire and a few things caught my eye in Topshop this weekend when I went for a little browse. I don't normally go into Topshop as I think it's mostly overpriced and you can normally find the same thing somewhere else but something drew me in this time. Aztec style clothes were everywhere and I flitted about like an excited little bird as I picked things up to try on. Of all the patterns and colours, I find Aztec things the most flattering and easy to wear. Mostly monochrome, patterned but not 'loud' and it still looks quite different.

Below are a few things I'm going to be looking for similar versions of. There is no way I am paying £25 for some denim shorts when I could just make them myself! I'm trying to think about practical festival wear this year. Note: maxi dresses and festival toilets are not a good combination. I think the best plan is to layer EVERYTHING and that way I'm prepared for rain or shine. All of the items below are from Topshop - I was being lazy when putting this post together!

I'm not sure if I can still get away with wearing hi-tops but I think they look good on everyone at the moment so they had to go on my wishlist. Then I just thought lots of different tops, some plain shorts and accessories to keep me going. I love the belt although I don't know how bothered I would be to sort a belt out when I'm stuck in a tent feeling gross.

The rain outside is suggesting that my festival shopping might be a little bit early. Think I'll stick to films and ice cream for a while!

Minty fresh

Happy half term to me! Time for a much needed break and a chance to get marking done, plan some ace lessons and catch up with friends. I neglect people during term time because I'm so busy/stressed/preoccupied with sleeping that I don't make plans or remember to text anyone back. It's terrible but sadly that's the way it is at the moment. I'm so glad that the mornings are beginning to get lighter. Hopefully it means that soon I won't have to sleep in a hoodie or eat carbs at every possible opportunity. It's fair to say that I feel sluggish, pale and generally not at my best. Can't wait for summer to arrive!

All of the magazines (of which I have many) are telling us that a big spring/summer trend will be pastels and candy colours. Mint is high up the list and definitely feels like a good colour to begin adding to your wardrobe now. I'm already on the lookout! Here are some of my high street minty picks...

My personal favourites are 2 and 5. I love drop back tops because they hide a multitude of sins, look classy and can be dressed up or down. The cross pleat dress is just very girlie and pretty!

I've blogged like crazy over the last few weeks but with my week off I'll be seeing friends and family so daily blogging will have to take a backseat for a while. I've also got some gorgeous jewellery on the way and can't wait to share that with you and see what people think! My mulberry maybe even sneak into a few posts because I'm very much enjoying showing her off. If there's anything you'd like to see more/less of in my posts then please let me know. I like hearing what people think!

FASHION FIX #19

Cocktails from Dogma Nottingham. Left: French Martini ♥ Right: Mojito
Easter. A time for reflection. Mainly reflecting on how many easter eggs you have consumed and considering at what point it is acceptable to order your first cocktail. Just me? I hope not.

The sun has been out treating us all to gorgeous days and balmy evenings. It only took twenty four hours of sunshine for me to get a face full of freckles and a host of new outfits in celebration of the weather. Who cares if this weather will only last another few days? My new maxi dresses and sandals (I reasoned whilst in the changing room and fully aware that I have no money) will last me all summer and I can take them on holiday. Value for money.

Dress left H&M £14.99, Dress right H&M £14.99, Sandal top Topshop £28 (or around that!)
P.S. H&M always used to be a little behind the trend in terms of online shopping. It just wasn't available. But now, thanks to many requests I'm sure, they have an online site including virtual dressing room, blog, on trend fashion advice and a collaboration with Lanvin under their belt.
Go H&M! I always loved you.

FASHION FIX #6

It's been so chilly recently I've been starting to think about my winter wardrobe. After falling in love with the newly organised Nottingham Topshop the other day, I decided that would be the first website I would look at.

In their 'collections' section I found this:

It looks stylish and warm but would definitely be warmer if I coupled it with skinny jeans and a cute bobble hat. I will be recreating this look as soon as money allows.

The clothes above are the items Topshop have put together for the outfit but I would add some more to make it suit my shape and to add that extra warmth...

Earrings to add a bit of glamour to winter!
Comfier shoes for icy days

A hat with bow to keep it cutesy - just how I like it!

Perhaps winter won't be so miserable after all.
